Yin Yoga & Ceremonial Cacao Heart Opening Workshop (Raw Bon Bon & Laura McDonald)

£35

Chocolate and Yoga are two of our favourite things, so we are delighted to be able to combine them in this workshop at the Elder Press Cafe.

Raw Cacao is a powerful plant medicine that has been used ceremonially for thousands of years across Central and South America.

Cacao is unlike other plant medicines in that it doesn’t take you on a journey, but gently supports you wherever you’re at. Cacao is a more subtle energy that works with you based on what’s happening inside. Raw cacao is considered a heart opener due to certain active ingredients and people generally describe cacao as a heart-centred energy because it significantly increases blood flow and generates an expansive feeling, often centred around the heart.

We will start by drinking ceremonial cacao together and learn more about the cacao plant.  This will be followed by a meditation and a heart-opening Yin Yoga sequence.

Yin Yoga is a slow, meditative form of yoga which consists of mostly seated or lying down postures held for a longer duration (usually 3 to 5 minute holds and occasionally longer) We aim to relax the muscles in order to target the deeper tissues of the body.  This should leave you feeling deeply relaxed.

We will end the workshop with raw chocolate treats and a grounding meditation.

Laura McDonald has been teaching yoga across London for over 10 years, originally training in Bikram Yoga. In 2016 Laura travelled to Vancouver to study with the Bernie Clark, author of ‘The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga’. More recently Laura has also completed Yin Yoga modules in Chinese Medicine and Myofascial Release with Jo Phee at Triyoga Camden. Laura finds Yin Yoga to be an excellent compliment to the more ‘Yang’ practice of Bikram Yoga.

Iren Merdinyan, founder of Raw Bonbon, is raw chocolatier & patissier.  Iren likes the look and the feel of things which are done with awareness and care. Her passion for delicious and high quality raw chocolate and desserts has taken her deeper into the exploration of the medicinal benefits of the raw ceremonial cacao. “Cacao is truly one of the most powerful superfoods and it’s very connected to the heart; the Mayan food of the Gods”.
