Pilates is a series of low impact exercises aimed to strengthen the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. It is designed to improve physical strength, flexibility, balance and posture whilst enhancing mental awareness, as well as helping with spine articulation and is a great discipline for rehabilitation and pain prevention.

Pilates is designed for everyone regardless of their age or fitness level. It teaches you to be in control of your body, allowing you to handle stress more effectively and achieve relaxation more easily. Your body awareness is heightened by bringing together mind and body, In the words of Joseph Pilates, ‘The mind, when housed with a healthy body, possesses a glorious sense of power’.

For Vanessa, the essence of Pilates is being present: in and with the body, and in both her teaching and self-practice. Vanessa loves working closely with people, helping them to connect with their body, optimize their movement and work towards their full potential.  Embracing the Pilates mind/body concept, Vanessa’s classes are holistic. Working the whole body from within they leave people feeling more energized and centred, with an increased inner strength and enhanced sense of wellbeing.

Always inspired and motivated by the benefits of Pilates and ever curious to expand her knowledge, Vanessa is committed to on going professional development and her teaching and practice continue to evolve.

Covering both classical and evolved approaches to the Pilates Method, Vanessa completed her teacher training with Anoushka Boone at Pilates in Motion Studio.

Vanessa is a member of the Independent Pilates Teacher Association (IPTA), holds a CYQ Level 3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates and is a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs).
